Saquon Barkley was drafted by the New York Giants second overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. Barkley has been a known offensive threat throughout the NFL and has created a great trophy case throughout his first six seasons with the New York Giants. He has been awarded with the 2018 NFL Offensive Rookie of the year, 2x Pro Bowl selection (2018, 2022) and broke the Most receptions by a rookie RB in a single season record (91).
Saquon Barkley’s Free Agency
The New York Giants decided to not franchise tag Saquon Barkley heading into the NFLs 2024 Free Agency. This means that Barkley will now be marked as a Free Agent, allowing teams to express their interest for him. Many teams, such as the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and Chicago Bears have been rumored to be a good spot for Barkley to land.
Saquon Barkley’s fit in Chicago.
The Chicago Bears have the Number one overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. With this pick, the most probable outcome is drafting star quarterback Caleb Williams. Following this pick, the Chicago Bears will have a lot of cap space to build their roster around Caleb Williams. Although some may be opposed to paying a running back, this move could really benefit The Chicago Bears. Barkley still has plenty of gas in his tank, and his presence in the backfield as both a ball carrier and a receiver would go a long way in helping Caleb Williams develop as a star quarterback in the NFL.
