Former New York Giants star Saquon Barkley in a recent statement made on Friday, expressed his support for Daniel Jones.
Barkley said he is advocating for a promising new start away from the Giants for Jones following his recent departure from the team.
Jones is anticipating a path to success akin to Barkley’s journey after his giant exit.
Ex-Giant Saquon Barkley Hopes Daniel Jones Could Follow A similar Path To A Fresh Start Away from Giants
After the team benched Jones earlier this week in favor of Tommy DeVito, Daniel Jones on Friday morning approached the Giants management seeking a release.
Both parties mutually agreed to part ways. Only This decision marks Jones’ exit from the team he was integral to, which is now sparking curiosity about his next move.
Saquon Barkley, left the Giants in free agency over the off-season to sign with their longtime rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles.
Now, his most recent three-year, $37.75-milllion contract with the Eagles is ranking him first in the NFC in rushing yards with 1,137 for a Philadelphia team that is 8-2.
And his first place in the NFC East is far better than the cellar-dwelling Giants (2-8), elevating his status around the NFL immeasurably ever since.
Barkley, talking about his successful transition to the Eagles and his history with the Giants, expressed a wish that Jones can also find success post-Giants.

“I’ve been in contact with him. Our friendship has stayed close throughout the whole process of me being here,” he told reporters Friday. “It sucks to see how everything went down for him over there. I’ve got nothing but great things to say about him. You’re not going to find anybody that can say negative things about him.

Given Jones’ history, there could be some interest in signing him after he clears waivers. No denying he has quarterback traits with the right system and support around him, Jones could land on his feet elsewhere.
Unfortunately, the financial implications of his contract like the four-year, $160 million contract he signed in March 2023 might scare away early interest from teams as it would cost a claiming team close to $12 million for the rest of the season.
The Dallas Cowboys are one team to flat-out say they have no interest in Jones.
Despite the need for quarterback reinforcements after Dak Prescott’s injury, the Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones told “The Blitz with Jason & Joe” that they intend to still keep Cooper Rush and Trey Lance as short-term options.
Looking forward, for Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones, their paths have been carved out for them by destiny and dedication.
Saquon Barkley’s renewed vigor in a new team environment is a beacon of hope, while Jones has the enviable yet daunting task of proving his mettle once more in the NFL.
