Penn State tight end Tyler Warren has emerged as a standout prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft, drawing comparisons to a former NFL second-round pick. His versatility and skill set have caught the attention of scouts, making him a player to watch as the draft approaches.

Warren is generating significant buzz as a potential impact player in the 2025 NFL Draft. Standing 6’6″ and weighing 260 pounds, He possesses the ideal size and physicality that NFL teams covet in a tight end. His athleticism allows him to excel in various offensive alignments, making him a versatile weapon who can create mismatches against defenses.

One of Warren’s standout traits is his impressive burst and acceleration after making a catch. His ability to track the ball and high-point passes gives him a considerable catch radius, making him a reliable target for quarterbacks. As a former high school quarterback himself, the tight end has an innate understanding of finding soft spots in zone defenses, allowing him to settle into favorable positions for receptions. Once the ball is in his hands, his speed and toughness enable him to gain significant yardage after contact.

However, the tight end does have areas for improvement, particularly in run blocking. His technique needs refinement to enhance his ability to sustain blocks, which is crucial for transitioning to an in-line tight end role at the professional level. Additionally, while his route-running skills have developed, there is still room for growth in terms of nuance and detail to maximize his effectiveness against tight man coverage.

Despite these areas for growth, his potential as a pass catcher is undeniable. He has already established himself as a primary offensive option for Penn State, displaying the capability to contribute as an H-back or flex tight end early in his NFL career. His unique skill set, combined with his size and athleticism, positions him as a valuable asset for any team looking to enhance their passing attack.

Bleacher Report’s Analysis Compares Penn State Nittany Lions’ Tyler Warren to Green Bay Packers’ Luke Musgrave

Warren has been drawing attention to himself after playing well for Penn State. His performance has led Bleacher Report’s Ryan Fowler to compare the tight end to Green Bay Packers’ Luke Musgrave.

While his route running and yards-after-catch creativity will stand out down the line, his ability to win from nearly every offensive alignment showcases one of the 2025 draft’s most unique offensive chess pieces.

Football is all about matchups and finding different body types and skill sets to exploit in space. While Penn State’s offense as a whole remains limited from a talent perspective, Warren’s unique ability to produce as an in-line tight end (Y), flex weapon, H-back, power slot and perimeter wideout will make him a tough cover at the next level.

Similar to Musgrave’s profile out of Oregon State a few years back, Warren is powerful yet elusive with the long strides and acceleration to outrun safeties and overpower linebackers.

The tight end has emerged as a notable prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft, showcasing his versatility with a standout performance against Purdue, where he recorded eight receptions for 127 yards and a touchdown.

His ability to excel in multiple offensive roles makes him a unique asset, drawing comparisons to Musgrave. As he continues to develop, Warren’s combination of power and elusiveness positions him well for success at the next level, with several NFL teams likely eyeing him as a valuable addition.
