The San Francisco 49ers have not been able to catch a break this season. They have constantly been missing crucial starters from the beginning of the season. Now the news gets worse as the team will be missing their starting quarterback Brock Purdy.
Since he took over back in 2022, Purdy has never missed a start for the team due to injury. He did get hurt in the NFC Championship game, but he started that game as well. That run will finally end this weekend as Purdy has officially been announced to be out in their crucial matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
San Francisco 49ers Announce Starting Quarterback For Week 12
There was a lot up in the air heading into Friday’s practice for the 49ers, and there was a chance that Brock would be able to go. Sadly for 49ers fans, in a crucial matchup with the Packers, he will not be able to go.
After the practice, the head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that Brandon Allen would be getting the starting job for this big-time game.
Purdy was dealing with a shoulder injury all throughout this week of practice, and he was not able to suit up for any of the practices this week. This is a crushing blow for the team that needs every single win they can get. The Packers will be out for blood with the backup quarterback in, and their defense should have all the confidence in the world going into this game.
It will be quite the adjustments for all of the offense for the 49ers as Brock has been running the show for years now. The receivers will have to adjust as well, and they will need everything they can get from their star running back Christian McCaffrey.

Fans have been freaking out in the comment section that the team is not going with more experienced journeymen Joshua Dobbs who has shown more signs of success than Allen. Dobbs played more just last season than Allen did all of his career:
“Why are we playing him over Dobbs???????” one user wrote.
“is josh dobbs not an option??” wrote another.
“Whatever your grieving process is, it’s time to get it started. We’re done done,” a third wrote.
This is a crucial moment for the 49ers’ season, as they sit at 5-5 in the closes division race that the league has seen in years. They have almost no room for error as the season enters the later stages. They will also be playing a couple of tough games in the schedule the rest of the way. After the Pakcers they also have a tough road game against the Bills.
This team is now in some real trouble if they cannot get the win without their starting quarterback. If Brock is out further amounts of time they will find themselves in a huge hole to try and get into the post-season.
They will need everyone to step up on Sunday, and their season hangs in the balance.
