San Francisco 49ers veteran interior offensive lineman Jon Feliciano has dealt with knee soreness/irritation since the start of training camp. Feliciano underwent knee surgery in late August, hoping to fix his knee. As a result, the 49ers placed him on injured reserve following the roster cutdown deadline, hoping he would return near the middle of the season.
The San Francisco 49ers opened his practice window three weeks ago
The 49ers designated Jon Feliciano for return and opened his practice window on Monday, November 4. Feliciano participated during Week 10’s practice as a limited participant, but the 49ers ultimately ruled him out. He participated during Week 11’s practice as a limited participant but did not play. Finally, the veteran interior offensive lineman participated during Week 12’s practice as a limited participant but was ruled out.
Will he be activated in time?
Since today marked the last day for the San Francisco 49ers to active him off injured reserve or he misses the rest of the season, they had to make a difficult decision. According to Nick Wagoner of ESPN, Jon Feliciano’s knee hasn’t responded as well as the team hoped. As Wagoner points out, Feliciano will revert to season-ending injured reserve, a devastating loss for the offensive line.
#49ers OL Jon Feliciano will stay on IR. His knee “hasn’t responded” how he and the team hoped. His season is over.
