San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch recently came forward to clarify the accusations thrown at the team by Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams. In a recent interview with Michael Silver from ‘The Athletic’, Adams laid bare his feelings about multiple topics, including San Francisco’s offer.
The San Francisco 49ers were apparently interested in bringing in Adams for their roster after the talented wide receiver was released by the New York Jets. However, the team’s offer was too low, and Adams felt disrespected by that. Adams felt that the team was trying to go as low as possible so that they could save money for Brock Purdy’s contract extension.
“I didn’t talk to them, but that’s what my agent told me — like five times, that quote. And I was like, ‘OK, well, I’m not a wholesale-type dude.'” Davante Adams said to Michael Silver.
John Lynch, who has been the general manager of the San Francisco 49ers since 2017, did not like what he saw in the article, and clarified his stance on the matter in a recent press conference. Lynch mentioned that he did not mean to disrespect Adams in any manner.
“I saw that quote. That wasn’t me. I’ve always had a great deal of respect for Davante. That didn’t line up… If there was any disrespect taken, none was intended.” John Lynch said to reporters about Davante Adams feeling disrespected with a low offer from the 49ers.
The San Francisco 49ers will be eager to do much better in the upcoming season and will hopefully make the right moves in the upcoming draft. Before that, the team also needs to make a decision about Brock Purdy’s contract extension, and soon for that matter.

San Francisco Opts Out Of Voluntary OTAs
On another note, San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle has opted to not participate in the voluntary offseason team activities, sparking more rumors of tensions between the player and the management.

Kittle is seeking a profitable contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers, but the team seems to be taking their own sweet time in arriving at a decision. The team has also yet to make a decision in terms of their quarterback, Brock Purdy’s contract extension.

Several NFL analysts have called this behavior out, stating that the team might eventually lose out on valuable players if they continue this habit. In the 2024 NFL season, Kittle managed a total of 78 receptions for 1,106 yards, scoring eight touchdowns for the team.
