The San Francisco 49ers have been trying to get going in the NFC Divisional Round game against the Green Bay Packers but may be without one of their best players. During the first drive of the game for the offense, wide receiver Deebo Samuel suffered a head injury and went to the blue tent before being back for the next drive.
However, early in the second quarter of the game, the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver was seen running off the field towards the locker room. While it is easy to assume it is injury-related, there has been nothing reported about this second instance as of this writing.
UPDATE: The 49ers have listed Samuel with a shoulder injury and he is questionable to return after the second quarter injury.
Deebo Samuel has been a significant player for the San Francisco 49ers offense as he has 60 receptions on 89 targets for 892 yards (14.9 yards per catch) with seven receiving touchdowns. He has been used in the running game as well with 37 carries for 225 yards (6.1 yards per attempt) with five rushing touchdowns.
It will be interesting to see if he can return to the game for a second time or if this will keep him sidelined for the remainder of the game.
Can the San Francisco 49ers win this game?
The San Francisco 49ers were one of the biggest favorites for the NFL Divisional Round as the top seed in the NFC taking on the seventh seed. However, this Green Bay Packers team has proven they are not to be overlooked. The Packers have been able to elongate drives and continue picking up first downs to keep the opposing offense on the sidelines.
The 49ers have a great defense and need to figure out how to force three-and-outs if they want to be able to win. They have great offensive pieces and keeping Jordan Love on the sidelines is going to be critical for success.
These two teams have had some incredible playoff games throughout the years and this will be intriguing to see how the 49ers are able to play and attempt to slow down this hot Packers team.
