Life is good if you’re name’s Brock Purdy.
From being Mr. Irrelevant to becoming the star man under center for the San Francisco 49ers, the past two years of his life already have enough material to be turned into a feel-good Hollywood blockbuster.
But the good times don’t end there. The baby-faced signal-caller gained another notch under his belt after the release of the 2023 NFL Award finalists.
Brock Purdy joins teammate Christian McCaffrey, Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson on MVP list
CBS Sports’ Tyler Sullivan published a comprehensive analysis of the Awards List finalists for every position.
Unfortunately for Purdy fans, it seems like the award is destined for someone else:
Jackson is the presumptive favorite to win this award, which would be the second time in his career that he’s been named MVP. He helped lead the Ravens to the No. 1 seed in the AFC and did so while taking down several Super Bowl contenders over the final month of the year. On top of passing for a career-high 3,678 yards and registering a 67.2 completion percentage, Jackson continued to gash defenses with his legs, rushing for 821 yards and five touchdowns. While he may be the favorite, it will be interesting to see who places second behind him.
It’s understandable why Jackson is the favorite to win the award. During their late-season matchup, the Baltimore Ravens QB ran circles around an elite Niners defense while Purdy threw four picks before Kyle Shanahan decided to bench him.
Fans were quick to call the Iowa State product a disappointment after that performance, and many would agree that the game cost him a potential MVP nod. However, it’s still incredible to see the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft to even be in the conversation.
McCaffrey puts up North Carolina property for sale
Meanwhile, Purdy’s fellow MVP candidate and teammate Christian McCaffrey is all in on the Bay.
The explosive running back just had his mansion on the outskirts of Charlotte listed for interested buyers. According to Mary K. Jacob of the New York Post, the nine-acre property’s main star is the mansion that is inspired by French châteaus.
She further detailed that was a tough decision for the league leader in rushing yards to part ways with his particular property:
McCaffrey, 27, expressed the difficulty of parting with the property in an email to the Wall Street Journal, which was the first to report on the listing, saying, “It was such a difficult decision to have to sell this house, but because I play in the Bay now, I am never there.”
He had successfully sold his Charlotte condo for $3 million earlier, and the asking rate for his mansion is at the ballpark of $12 million.
