San Francisco 49ers Pegged To Land 5-Time Pro Bowler In Exchange For Brandon Aiyuk (Report)

The San Francisco 49ers are going into the 2024 season with every expectation in the world to be Super Bowl contenders.  Coming off a heart breaking loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl (again) will bring extra motivation this year.

However, the future of Brandon Aiyuk is up in the air, to say the least.  A trade seemingly becomes more and more possible every day. If that does happen, the 49ers could get a pretty decent return.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com:

BEREA, Ohio — If the Browns are serious about trading for 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk, a young All-Pro who they like, they might actually be able to pull it off with a combination of an elite player and some draft picks.

The Browns would undoubtedly have to give San Francisco five-time Pro Bowler Amari Cooper, because the 49ers could plug him into Aiyuk’s spot as their No. 1 receiver and carry on with their march back to the Super Bowl.

Matt Maiocco further detailed that the framework of a trade may already be in place:

The 49ers have negotiated the framework of trades that would send wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to the Cleveland Browns or the New England Patriots, a league source told NBC Sports Bay Area on Monday night.

Now it’s up to Aiyuk to determine if he will accept the contract terms from either of those franchises, the source said.

The 49ers gave permission to Aiyuk to negotiate potential contracts with the Browns, Patriots, Washington Commanders and Pittsburgh Steelers, the source said.

It will be interesting to see where Aiyuk winds up for the 2024 season and beyond.  He has certainly established himself as one of the best WR2s in league and has the potential to be WR1 in almost any locker room.
