The Philadelphia Eagles didn’t expose the Kansas City Chiefs offensive line in the Super Bowl when they sacked Patrick Mahomes six times for 31 yards in the Super Bowl. The Chiefs knew their tackles were a problem, which is why Joe Thuney was moved out of position while second-year OT Wanya Morris was inactive.
Morris and rookie OT Kingsley Suamataia, who the Chiefs took in the second round, had issues protecting Mahomes all through the regular season. Each player took turns being benched before Thuney was moved to the outside.
Andy Reid’s gamble worked until it didn’t.
The Chiefs are expected to address the offensive line in the offseason.
Ronnie Stanley to the Kansas City Chiefs

Per Jason La Canfora of the Wahington Post, two NFL executives think Kansas City will attempt to sign Baltimore Ravens All-Pro OT Ronnie Stanley or Minnesota Vikings OT Cam Robinson.
“Expect top-guard-turned-top-left-tackle Joe Thuney to get a reworked contract after saving the Chiefs’ season by moving to the edge,” La Canfora wrote. “Team brass expects to lose guard Trey Smith on the open market, from everything I gather — multiple executives pointed to Tennessee as a potential landing spot — but I doubt Kansas City stands pat.
“That front office traded for former Baltimore starting tackle Orlando Brown Jr. a few years back, and Ravens left tackle Ronnie Stanley is coming off his best and healthiest season in years. Given his lengthy injury history, he could be a perfect fit as a stopgap in Kansas City. ‘Doesn’t that just seem like what Andy Reid would do to fix his biggest need,’ the first GM asked. Predicted the second GM: ‘I think they get Stanley or [Minnesota Vikings tackle Cam] Robinson.'”
Stanley has been impactful for the Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens selected Stanley with the No. 6 pick in the 2016 draft. The former Notre Dame standout earned two Pro Bowl appearances. He’s made 104 starts and appearances in his nine-year NFL career.
Stanley signed a five-year contract extension in 2020 worth $112.8 million. At 30, the Las Vegas native earned a 71.0 overall grade from Pro Football Focus for his play in 2024. He earned a 79.6 pass-blocking grade, a sign that he would be valuable for the Chiefs to protect Mahomes in 2025.
