The San Francisco 49ers have been looking to extend their star defensive lineman Nick Bosa this offseason. While it has not gotten done yet, there no way the 49ers are letting a player like Bosa walk. According to a recent report, the team and Bosa are “accelerating” towards a deal that would make him the highest paid defensive player in NFL history.

San Francisco 49ers and Nick Bosa Extension
The goal is to get the extension done before the start of training camp. Both sides have expressed confidence that this will happen publicly. Currently, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end TJ Watt is the highest paid defensive player and Bosa will likely surpass him. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone as the former second overall pick has been nothing but dominant since he has gotten in the league.

Bosa’s Stats Are Wild
Last season he won Defensive Player of the Year after compiling 51 tackles and 18.5 sacks. In his first four NFL seasons he has a total of 43 sacks meaning he is averaging double digit sacks per season. This is even more impressive when you realize that one of those seasons he missed all but two games after he tore his ACL. He is the most dominant force off of the edge and is a big reason why so many people are high on the 49ers despite the questions at quarterback.
The extension for Nick Bosa is going to be huge from the San Francisco 49ers. It is well deserved as Bosa has done nothing but produce since he entered the league. He looks to follow up his award winning season in 2023 as the 49ers look to return to the Super Bowl.
