Could Jim Harbaugh finally be returning to the NFL?
Well, not so fast…at least for now.
According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Michigan Head Coach, Jim Harbaugh has spoke with Carolina Panthers Owner, Dave Tepper about the club’s head coaching vacancy.
While a Harbaugh-Panthers marriage would certainly be an intriguing relationship, Russini’s heard that the Panthers owner is unlikely to go in that direction right now:
“While [Dave] Tepper was angry about his team’s offense, he has been pleased with the defense. We’ll see if Evero wants to stay or gets another opportunity. As for interest in Jim Harbaugh? Tepper had some conversations with the University of Michigan head coach last year, but a league source said this time Tepper is unlikely to go in that direction.”
The Panthers recently fired Head Coach, Frank Reich following the club’s 1-10 start to the season, despite hiring the former Colts coach just 11 months prior.
Jim Harbaugh’s Tumultuous 2023
This past August, Michigan announced that it was self imposing a three-game ban on Harbaugh to begin the season due to recruiting violations. Just weeks after Harbaugh’s return, the infamous Connor Stallions sign stealing scandal sent shockwaves through the college football world, a scandal that would see Harbaugh be suspended once again for three games. Despite missing six games, including massive rivalry games against Ohio State and Penn State, respectively, the Wolverines pulled through and earned the top seed in the upcoming college football playoffs.
Gridiron Heroics will provide any updates on the status of Jim Harbaugh and a potential return to the NFL as they become available.
