The Minnesota Vikings left it all the the table during the 30-24 defeat to the now crowned NFC North champs in the Detroit Lions. While The Minnesota Vikings did their best, and showed flashes of brilliance throughout the game, it unfortunately came up just short.
With the latest injury news, this roster is going to be in an even rougher spot to finish out the season with the latest NFL updates from the game.
Minnesota Vikings Defense Takes A Hit
Minnesota Vikings career having season defensive lineman is likely out for the remained of the 2023 NFL season. According to a report from Ian Rapoport, DJ Wonnum has suffered a partially torn quad injury, and will be be able to come back for the rest of the season.
The news comes at a rough time for the edge rusher, as DJ Wonnum was having one of the best seasons of his career, and was putting up career high numbers for himself.
With quad muscle tears taking around six months, to nearly a year to recover from, it appears that even this partial tear is enough that he will be seeing his immediate time being spent on recovering, rehabbing from this latest setback.
Minnesota Vikings Defender
On the season, DJ Wonnum has 62 tackles, and has sacked the quarterback a total of 8 times. Having carved out a large role for himself on this team, head coach Kevin O’Connor was deeply concerned about the loss midway through the game.
Though not known at the time, having been carted off the field, head coach Kevin O’Connell was waiting to hear for official test results before offering further comment at the time.
The Minnesota Vikings will now attempt to salvage wins for the remainder of their season, as fellow teammates TJ Hockenson, Mekhi Blackmon, and Jordan Addison also suffered setbacks during the game. Any further status regarding them is unknown at this time.
In what ended as a rough game, the Vikings will be hoping to receive more encouraging news for the other teammates.
