The Atlanta Falcons to sign linebacker Tuesday
The Atlanta Falcons headed into the offseason trying to get better after a 7-10 regular season. The NFC South is a winnable division for the Falcons next season if they make a few moves. The Falcons will have a new starting quarterback next season, although the team doesn’t have a definitive starter yet. The Falcons needed to sign one linebacker this offseason before they hit free agency.
According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, Falcons will sign linebacker Lorenzo Carter to a two-year deal on Tuesday.
#Falcons free agent pass-rusher Lorenzo Carter is headed back into the building today in Atlanta, set to sign a two-year deal, sources say. Off the free agent board, Atlanta keeps one of their productive young players.

Carter had five sacks, 28 stops, and 39 total tackles during the 2022 season. He earned a 60.5 overall grade from Pro Football Focus for his play last season. He was graded 51.5 for his pass-rushing defense. A two-year deal isn’t bad for both parties, as Carter needs to have a little more on-field production with the Falcons before they ink him to a long-term contract.
