Raiders Key Stats
The Las Vegas Raiders were able to do well as they were able to go on the road and defeat a divisional opponent in the Denver Broncos. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo had a strong debut with the team as he went 20-of-26 for 200 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, as well as a fumble.
Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers was his favorite target, as he had nine catches on 10 targets for 81 yards and a pair of touchdown receptions. Davante Adams was held in check as he finished with six catches on nine targets for 66 yards.
Running back Josh Jacobs was unable to get going, though, as he had 19 carries for 48 yards and was unable to get more than seven yards on any rushing attempt. He did add a pair of receptions for 23 yards as well.
Defensively, the Raiders were able to do pretty well, as they allowed 16 points on 260 total yards. However, they did a decent job of applying pressure without Chandler Jones on the field, as they recorded a pair of sacks and four quarterback hits.
Bills Key Stats
The Buffalo Bills had the ability to pick up a win against a New York Jets team that lost Aaron Rodgers after four offensive snaps but instead lost 22-16 on the road in overtime. Quarterback Josh Allen struggled as he was 29-of-41 for 236 yards with one touchdown, three interceptions, and a pair of fumbles. He also ran the ball six times for 36 yards. He had constant pressure, though, as the Jets sacked him five different times.
Wide receiver Stefon Diggs had a strong game, as he had 10 receptions on 13 targets for 102 yards and a touchdown. That was the only time the Bills found the end zone.
The defense did a good job as they held the Jets to 289 total yards but allowed the game to go to overtime after holding a 13-3 halftime lead and New York relying on Zach Wilson. The Jets were 5-of-13 on third down and converted their singular fourth down attempt. Buffalo needs to improve against the run, as they allowed 6.1 yards per carry.
Game Prediction
Josh Allen has led the NFL in turnovers since 2017, and it will be more than one week of Josh Allen taking the blame for turnovers for him to change his gambling ways. The Bills are not as great of a roster, with their offense struggling to keep possession.
While the Bills are likely going to activate Damar Hamlin for this home opener, and that will give the team life, it will not be enough to expect a blowout of any kind. The Bills could not stop the running game last week and now face last season’s top running back, Josh Jacobs.
Expect the Raiders to keep this game relatively close and cover the spread easily in this game. I’m too chicken to actually say Raiders moneyline, but sprinkle some there as well.
