LSU Tigers wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. is generating buzz in getting drafted in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. His teammate, wide receiver Malik Nabers, is very well going to be a top 10 selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. There will be a lot of teams that will need to draft a wide receiver.
Thomas Jr. is a 6’4″ player who weighs 205 lbs and was a junior last season in college. He caught 68 passes for 1,177 yards receiving and 17 touchdowns, along with averaging 17.3 yards per reception. Brian Thomas Jr. has the potential to be a number-one wide receiver in the NFL even though he was a number-two wide receiver on the LSU roster this past season.
LSU wide receivers have been a major hit in the NFL Draft over the years. Which NFL teams can very well select him in the first round?
The New Orleans Saints Could Be the Team That Selects Brian Thomas Jr. With the 14th Overall Pick
The Saints are thin at wide receiver for next season. They just released Michael Thomas this offseason and will be looking for a new top target for quarterback Derek Carr even though they do have Chris Olave.
Olave will not be enough in this offense. They need other outside weapons. The Saints would make a ton of sense because Brian Thomas Jr. played for the LSU Tigers. The New Orleans Saints would be getting a playmaker in that offense.
Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts own the 15th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Indianapolis outside of Michael Pittman Jr. doesn’t have anyone else, even though Josh Downs had a nice rookie season. Quarterback Anthony Richardson needs that outside weapon to help him progress in his development after missing most of last season with an injury.
Indianapolis needs to get better at the wide receiver position since it is an offensive league. They will be looking at other wide receivers even if they don’t draft Brian Thomas Jr.
Jacksonville Jaguars
With the Jacksonville Jaguars losing Calvin Ridley, they need to draft a wide receiver. He signed in NFL free agency with the Tennessee Titans. The Jaguars own the 17th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Jacksonville does not have a true number-one wide receiver for quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Tight end Evan Engram has been a nice weapon for him in this offense but they need a wide receiver on the outside and Brian Thomas Jr. would fit the bill for them.
