A recent poll found a stunning and significant amount of the American public believe there was a conspiracy for Taylor Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs to help President Joe Biden earn reelection in November.
The Kansas City Chiefs/Super Bowl conspiracy
Swift has been dating Chiefs’ star tight end, Travis Kelce, since the summer of 2023. The Chiefs’ success in the season and postseason had numerous conservative voices claim the NFL and government rigged the outcome of the playoffs so the Chiefs could make and win the Super Bowl. Those voices believe Swift will use the publicity to endorse Biden for the 2024 election.
The conspiracy was viral enough for the Department of Defense to release a statement denying the claim Swift is a government asset. Likely Republican Presidential nominee and former President Donald Trump’s campaign released a statement saying a potential endorsement from Swift wouldn’t help Biden at the polls.
Poll: 1 in 5 Americans believe in a Taylor Swift conspiracy theory
Monmouth conducted a poll to find out how many Americans believe in the Swift conspiracy. The Monmouth University Poll claims one in five people believe Swift was propped up to help endorse Biden:
“Just under half (46%) of the American public has heard something about Swift being part of a supposed covert government effort to help Biden win the 2024 presidential election. Just under 1 in 5 Americans (18%) believe such a conspiracy involving Swift exists.
Fully 71% of those who believe this identify with or lean toward the Republican Party and 83% indicate they are likely to support Donald Trump in the fall. Also, nearly three-quarters (73%) of those who believe the Swift conspiracy also believe the 2020 election outcome was fraudulent.”
Swift did not endorse President Joe Biden at the Super Bowl
The poll was conducted on February 8, a few days before the Super Bowl. One would assume many more Trump supporters find the conspiracy credible after the Chiefs were able to pull off a double-digit comeback to eventually win the Super Bowl in overtime.
Swift did not publicly endorse Biden during the Super Bowl. But truthers will find a way to make the narrative stick if an endorsement comes in the near future.
