College football fans mocked Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck following his 28-14 loss to rival Wisconsin Saturday. The loss knocked Minnesota to 5-7 in Fleck’s seventh season with the program.
Fleck is now 49-34 during his tenure with Minnesota. Minnesota dropped off this season following back-to-back nine-win seasons. But this year’s campaign has some Minnesota fans wanting another coach.
That seems premature. Fleck has led Minnesota to some of their best seasons in recent memory. The 2019 team finished 11-2. But this season hasn’t gone as planned.
College football fans mock Fleck after losing to Wisconsin
Fleck is known for the phrase “row the boat,” which he has used since the death of his son Colt Fleck. P.J. adopted the term for his coaching style, in which he encourages his team to sacrifice for the betterment of the program.
Like most coach cliches, that slogan works better when Fleck is winning. But when he’s losing…well, fans on social media used the analogy for a sinking boat. Here are the best takes of fans making Fleck trend for a sinking boat after a 5-7 season.
