The Pittsburgh Steelers are facing adversity in this 2023 NFL season. They are coming off of a bad Thursday Night Football loss to the New England Patriots. Now, they have lost two straight games against teams that are currently 3-10.
Now, it gets even worse for them. The Steelers just found out some unfortunate news about QB Kenny Pickett. Find out what that is below.
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Kenny Pickett OUT for Week 15
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Pickett will not play in Saturday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. Pickett suffered an ankle injury in Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals. Since then, he has had surgery on his ankle and as a result, Pickett missed last week’s game against the Patriots.
This could not come at a worse time for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The injury has caused them to lose two straight games during an easier portion of their schedule. Now, they have to go without Pickett in a game against a team also fighting to make the playoffs. Both Pittsburgh and Indianapolis have 7-6 records.
Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Options
For now, we do not know who the Steelers plan to start in Week 15 against the Colts. Last week, it was veteran QB Mitchell Trubisky who got the nod. However, his performance left something to be desired.
Last week, Trubisky went 22/35 and had 190 passing yards. Along with this, Trubisky had a touchdown pass and an interception.
With that said, Steelers fans were not satisfied. Trubisky had such a poor performance last week that it resulted in Steelers fans demanding that backup QB Mason Rudolph be put in the game. It is unclear if head coach Mike Tomlin will listen to that request next week.
What could Pittsburgh get with Rudolph? For starters, he has experience in this system. He has played with the Steelers as far back as 2019. Rudolph has 2,366 passing yards, 16 touchdown passes, and 11 interceptions in 17 career appearances. We will have to see who gets the nod in Week 15.
