Who will be the Pittsburgh Steelers starting QB in 2024?
According to ESPN‘s latest off-season projections, Mike Tomlin and co. could be swinging for the fences via trade when it comes to acquiring the club’s next potential franchise signal-caller:
“The Steelers’ next franchise quarterback is not currently on the roster. Kenny Pickett hasn’t shown enough growth in two seasons, and even though Mason Rudolph played well in a few starts down the stretch, he hasn’t been consistent enough in his career to be a safe option going forward. That they managed 10 wins last season despite their weak QB group makes them a candidate to deal for Fields, who could be a decent fit with new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.”
Pittsburgh Steelers’ Quarterback Carousel in 2023
In a season that included starting the likes of former first-round picks, Kenny Pickett and Mitchell Trubisky under center, the Pittsburgh Steelers rode the ‘hot hand’ of Mason Rudolph to a surprise playoff berth. With Pickett’s on-field struggles coupled with his recent injury record, it wouldn’t be much of a shock if Mike Tomlin decided to either draft or trade for a QB with high-upside such as the aforementioned Justin Fields.
