The Pittsburgh Panthers are dealing with what every program is dealing with right now, the transfer portal. The new college football landscape means that players can leave easily for better playing time or better NIL opportunities. Talented edge rusher Samuel Okundola announced he is entering the transfer portal.

Pittsburgh Panthers Samuel Okunlola Enters Transfer Portal
The talented edge rusher had a breakout season in 2023. He tallied five sacks, six tackles for loss, six quarterback hurries, and one forced fumble. He will now look for a different program to play for and he should be a great get for a head coach. Being able to rush the passer is always essential, especially with how many great quarterbacks there are in the game. Okunlola will have three years of eligibility left.
Continuing To Improve
If Okunlola gets a big NIL deal from another team he can thank himself. He worked hard and steadily improved throughout the year. Head coach Pat Narduzzi spoke about him a month ago talking about his progress. “He keeps getting better,” head coach Pat Narduzzi said. “Coach Partridge has been impressed with him in practice the last few weeks. He just keeps getting better. He’s just got to keep getting more reps.” This is exactly what you want to see out of a player.
Where will Samuel Okunlola end up? There are so many options in the transfer portal that it might take some time for the dust to settle. Pittsburgh will need to replenish the talent on the line after this departure.
