Jason Kelce is one of the greatest, if not the best player in his position, and as he enters the offseason and free agency, many teams would certainly want his services.
However, it’s unlikely Kelce is going anywhere away from Philly.
What Will Philadelphia Eagles’ Jason Kelce Do?
Kelce’s future remains uncertain. There have been talks about him retiring from the game after the Eagles failed 2023 run, but the star center himself has confirmed that he has yet to make a decision.
Most recently, Kelce noted that he’s still “trying to figure it out right now” and that he’s “exploring different opportunities” should he end up retiring. Nonetheless, he is still “working out and staying in shape” in case he decides to play again.
Whatever Kelce decides to do, however, it’s unlikely that he’s leaving the Eagles and the City of Brotherly Love. Should he decide to continue playing, expectations are high that he’ll return to the only team he has known in his entire career.
If Kelce opts to retire, there’s no question he’s staying in Philly where his family is deeply rooted.
Philadelphia Eagles’ Jason Kelce the Top Offensive Lineman in Free Agency
Bill Barnwell of ESPN expects as much for Jason Kelce to return as an Eagle or retire in Philly. There’s just no “other team” for him.
In his ranking of the top free agent players in every position, Barnwell labeled Kelce as a “franchise” player and the top player in his position. However, as mentioned, the veteran reporter doesn’t see Kelce going anywhere.
“Even at age 36, Kelce remains one of the top centers in all of football and an essential player for the Eagles. If you give him some direct portion of the credit for Philly’s success on the “Tush Push,” he might be the league’s most valuable offensive lineman,” Barnwell wrote.
“Of course, Kelce probably isn’t going anywhere: The future Hall of Famer is expected to retire or return to the Eagles, the only NFL team for which he has played.”
This is certainly music to the ears of Eagles fan. While they still await what the 36-year-old will do, they can rest easy knowing that Kelce will be a son of Philly through and through.
Here’s to hoping Kelce gives it another year in the NFL and attempt to win the Super Bowl once last time. He definitely deserves it.
