The Philadelphia Eagles have troubling news for defensive lineman Jalen Carter on Wednesday. The report could be troubling for the Eagles before their matchup on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
Carter has been an important figure on the Eagles defense in the postseason. His forced fumble and two-sack performance in the divisional round was the key reason Philadelphia defeated the Los Angeles Rams 28-22 to advance to the NFC Championship Game.
The second-year defensive tackle recorded 42 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in the regular season. However, the 23-year-old’s status is up in the air ahead of Sunday’s game.
Philadelphia Eagles DT Jalen Carter has an illness
Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Carter missed his media availability on Wednesday due to an illness.
“Eagles standout DL Jalen Carter missed his media availability today because of an illness, I’m told,” Rapoport posted on X. “We’ll learn later about whether he participated in practice and if so, how much.”

Fortunately for Carter, the rising star still has a few days to recover before the Super Bowl. The bad news, the cause of the illness was not identified, and there’s a possibility that a sickness could be spreading around the Eagles’ locker room.
Carter’s practice status will appear in the Super Bowl injury report.
