The Philadelphia Eagles steamrolled the Los Angeles Rams, defeating the Rams on the road with a score of 37 to 20. On the defensive side of the ball, the Eagles’ pass rush dominated the Rams’ offensive line and consistently pressured Matthew Stafford. PFF credited the pass-rushing unit with 17 pressures, seven hurries, five QB hits, and five sacks.
Unfortunately for the Eagles pass rush, their veteran couldn’t finish the game unscathed.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ 36-year-old EDGE rusher suffered a significant injury
Brandon Graham suffered a triceps injury during the fourth quarter after being chipped by running back Kyren Williams. The training staff checked him out on the sidelines, and he didn’t return for the remainder of the game. He finished the night with two tackles, two TFLs, three QB hits, and one sack in 29 (45%) defensive snaps.
He will miss the rest of the season
While speaking with reporters in the locker room following their Sunday Night Football victory over the Los Angeles Rams, Brandon Graham told the media he suffered a torn left triceps. Graham also said he would miss the rest of the 2024 season.
“I’m out for the rest of the year, for real. I tore my triceps,” Graham said in the locker room. “If I had to go out like this, I gave everything I got.”
Graham will finish the 2024 season with 20 tackles, six TFLs, seven QB hits, 3.5 sacks, and one forced fumble. Not having him for the rest of the season is a devastating loss for their pass rush because they are losing a talented player and a well-respected leader in the locker room.
A look at the Philadelphia Eagles OLB depth
Brandon Graham isn’t the only outside linebacker/EDGE rusher on injured reserve, joining free agent signing Bryce Huff with a wrist injury. Once the Eagles place Graham on IR, the Eagles will have three players remaining. The three players remaining on the active roster include veteran Josh Sweat, their first-round pick from 2023, Nolan Smith, and third-round rookie Jalyx Hunt.
What now?
During the offseason, the expectation was for 2024 to be Brandon Graham’s farewell tour and his last season in the National Football League. Since Graham suffered a season-ending injury last night, this could very well be his last game in the NFL. If this holds, the former 1st round pick from the 2010 draft class had a great career in Philadelphia, playing 15 seasons, most notably known for his game-sealing strip sack on Tom Brady in Super Bowl LII, earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2020, and recording 487 tackles, 126 TFLs, 153 QB hits, 76.5 sacks, and 22 forced fumbles. He also had 20 tackles, six TFLs, 10 QB hits, 5.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in the postseason.
