Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley staked his claim in the MVP conversation, perhaps as the award’s frontrunner, following the most dominant performance of his career Sunday night.

Against the Los Angeles Rams, Barkley exploded for 255 rushing yards, including touchdown runs of 70 and 72 yards, as the driving force of Philadelphia’s offense in a 37-20 victory over the Los Angeles Rams.
While no running back has won the MVP award since Adrian Peterson took home the honors in 2012, Barkley and Baltimore Ravens All-Pro Derrick Henry are a legitimate threat to break the quarterback position’s stranglehold this season.
Henry didn’t waste any time congratulating Barkley on his outburst against the Rams, taking to social media Sunday night to heap praise on the Eagles’ star.
@saquon GO CRAZY GANGSTA !! 😤😤💪🏾💪🏾

Barkley and Henry may be the biggest threat to Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson or Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen winning this year’s MVP award.
While Henry has yet to take the field in Week 12, the Ravens take on the Los Angeles Chargers Monday night, Barkley is currently the NFL’s leading rusher with 1,392 yards and 10 touchdowns while Henry isn’t far behind with 1,185 yards and 13 scores so far this season.
Whether either Henry or Barkley can run past some of the league’s top quarterbacks and actually win the MVP award this season remains to be seen, but both are well on their way to 2,000-plus rushing yards which would make equally compelling cases as the driving forces of their teams’ success.
