The New York Giants organization has become very dysfunctional over the last decade. This season, they are 2-9 after losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-7 at home on Sunday afternoon. New York has regressed every season under the regime of head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen.
There is a chance that things could be even worse for both of them after Thursday’s Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. The Giants released Daniel Jones on Friday. Tommy DeVito started on Sunday and it appeared as if the Giants locker room quit.
NFL Insider Jordan Schultz Received Text Message About the State of the New York Giants
After the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams game on Sunday night, a lot of New York Giants fans were bashing general manager Joe Schoen for letting running back Saquon Barkley go this offseason. He had 302 total yards of offense for the Eagles against the Los Angeles Rams in a 37-20 win.
Schoen was exposed during the off-season edition of HBO Hard Knocks. It will be very hard to believe that owner John Mara will keep him after this season. NFL Insider Jordan Schultz said after the game on Sunday night on Twitter that he received a text from an NFC Executive Saying:
“That Giants building will be awkward tomorrow. Wouldn’t want to be there.”
It is interesting to see how this is all going to go down with the New York Giants. They let go of Saquon Barkley and Xavier McKinney this offseason. They now released Daniel Jones. Jones wasn’t the problem even though he didn’t play well. Wide receiver Malik Nabers mentioned after the game on Sunday that the team’s issues are not the quarterback.

If I’m John Mara after pleading his case to Joe Schoen about how bad of a job he had done to put a winning roster together I would fire both the coach and GM for poor roster management.

Hire Jeff Stoutland, the eagles o-line coach, as HC in the off-season. Everything runs through their o-line and they have been 111-777-1 since he got there. He’s been through 3 HCs. That is culture change.

A lot of the problems with the New York Giants are because of John Mara meddling in business decisions, but Joe Schoen is also not a very good general manager. How is it possible that the team has gotten worse with Schoen compared to Dave Gettleman as general manager? Xavier McKinney also being shown the door this offseason is also going to get the general manager fired after this season.
