A.J. Brown is one of the most important players on the Philadelphia Eagles‘ roster, and a tone-setter for quarterback Jalen Hurts and the offense.
For as much as running back Saquon Barkley became the focal point of the Eagles’ offense this season, Hurts was at his best, and the offense its most efficient when Brown made major contributions.
Shortly after the Eagles’ 40-22 blowout win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, offensive coordinator Kellen Moore departed to take the New Orleans Saints head coaching victory, replaced shortly thereafter by Nick Sirianni promoting Kevin Pattulo as play-caller.
Brown, who caught 67 passes for 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns this season, seems fired up about the move.
“It’s a great hire,” Brown said, according to Nick Shook of NFL.com.
The Eagles’ offense will likely be tweaked and acquire Pattulo’s fingerprints in 2025, but the fact that he and Sirianni have worked on the same coaching staffs dating back to their time together with the Indianapolis Colts should mean there are minimal changes in terms of philosophy and how Philadelphia will deploy its star weapons.
“He’s already familiar with us,” Brown points out, of Pattulo. “We have a great relationship, and he knows what we need to work on because he’s been there, and he’s been there for a while, and like I said, he’s already been a part of all the situations and the conversations and everything. So, I think it’s a great hire.”
