Browns’ rookie Perrion Winfrey was reportedly held out of practice on Friday for disciplinary reasons. When Kevin Stefanski was asked about it, he didn’t really say a whole lot about it. It was reported that he won’t be playing in the Browns’ home opener on Sunday as well.
#Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski says DT Perrion Winfrey was disciplined by the team, hence his absence from practice. Will not play Sunday. Would not disclose details as to why.

But, Myles Garrett did comment a little bit on the situation with Winfrey.
“I think we all have to step up and say something, but sometimes silence speaks louder than words. We’ve used our voice a couple of times and at the end of the day, he’s got to learn how to be a pro. Kevin took it into his own hands and he felt like that was the right thing to do and I’m behind my coach’s actions totally. It was pretty common knowledge. And it was easy to see. It wasn’t like we had to bring it to his attention. It was just, his actions were very apparent.”
Perrion Winfrey has won over the fans in Cleveland, so it’s sad to see that something like this has happened. Defensive Line Coordinator Chris Kiffin said that Winfrey had some nice plays in week one, and now Cleveland will have to without him.
“It affects the game, and we’ll continue to harp on that regardless of what type of quarterback we’re playing. We’re always trying to bat balls down.”
Even though he made some good plays, he was doing it in a limited time.
“Perrion, he got limited snaps. He actually got a trap on the second play of his NFL career so of course he got knocked out, and he was not ready for that. It was good to get him in there early, and it was a low volume game overall so he did not get as many reps.”
For Perrion, we can just hope this doesn’t become a common thing. He brings a lot of energy to the stadium and people want to see him perform well.
