The Penn State Nittany Lions are looking forward to facing the SMU Mustangs in the college football playoffs come Saturday at NOON ET. Penn State is 11-2 this season and they lost to the Oregon Ducks in the BIG10 Championship Game.
One of the biggest stories about the Nittany Lions heading into the playoffs is the quarterback room. Drew Allar announced on Monday that he is returning for the 2025 season. Beau Pribula was the backup quarterback for the Nittany Lions during the season.
Penn State Nittany Lions Quarterback Beau Pribula Enters Transfer Portal Ahead Of Playoffs
In a shocking move entering the college football playoffs, Penn State quarterback Beau Pribula has decided to enter the transfer portal, according to sources who tell Pete Nakos of on3. Pribula could very well be one of the top quarterbacks in the transfer portal.
This season, he completed 74.3% of his passes for 275 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception. Pribula is a sophomore and is 6’2″ and weighs 207 lbs. He has the talent to potentially be a starting quarterback elsewhere. However, it feels weird that he would want to not stick around with the Nittany Lions for the college football playoffs.

This likely means allar is staying in school?

With Allar staying and Pribula leaving, freshman quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer will be the backup quarterback for the Nittany Lions for now. After the season, Penn State and head coach James Franklin may have to find a new backup quarterback for Allar for the 2025 college football season. The transfer portal could be one of the biggest messes in college football right now and no players on playoff teams should be transferring until after the season ends.
