The Penn State Nittany Lions lost to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the college football playoffs semifinals, but everyone got to see what kind of special player Abdul Carter is. He was dealing with a shoulder injury in that game and he was still dominating the competition.
There is no doubt that Carter will be one of the first few picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. This past season with Penn State, he recorded 68 tackles, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles, and four pass deflections. Abdul Carter is 6’3″ and weighs 259 lbs.
Penn State Nittany Lions Abdul Carter Has Stress Reaction In Right Foot
Tests revealed on Wednesday that Abdul Carter has a stress reaction in his right foot, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. The NFL Scouting Combine is this week. Also, Adam Schefter reported on Thursday on his Twitter page:
“Doctors told Penn St. DE and projected No. 1 pick Abdul Carter that, after further scans on his right foot, surgery is not advisable. Carter will work out at his March 28 pro day at Penn State. “I couldn’t be more confident that this will be a non-factor where he’s drafted,” Carter’s agent Drew Rosenhaus said today. “He will put on a show at his pro day.””
It is good news that he will not need surgery. It is also good news that he will be able to participate in the Penn State Nittany Lions Pro Day next month. One of the things that will be interesting to see is if Carter will still be drafted in the Top 5 of the 2025 NFL Draft.

When the news first broke, people were joking on Twitter about him sliding to number 32 overall for the Philadelphia Eagles. Since the jokes could subside, Carter will probably not get past the Jacksonville Jaguars at number five in the 2025 NFL Draft also.
