The Penn State Nittany Lions are loading up on talent through the transfer portal. In the past week, head coach James Franklin has landed some top transfer portal talent and he is adding to the class. Former Florida cornerback Jalen Kimber had committed to Louisville but decided to flip his commitment and head to Happy Valley.

Penn State Flips CB Jalen Kimber From Louisville
Louisville has also been on a tear in the transfer portal. They have one of the top transfer portal classes in the nation. Franklin was able to flip Kimber who had been committed since December 30th. This past season, he had 23 tackles and five pass breakups. He was a former four-star recruit who originally was at Georiga before heading to Florida. Now he will play for the Nittany Lions in 2024.
2024 Transfer Portal Rankings
Penn State is starting to climb the transfer portal rankings. According to On3, they currently rank 22nd in the nation just behind Big Ten programs Purdue and Nebraska. However, the offseason is just beginning and Franklin seems to be heating up in the transfer portal. The Nittany Lions will need to reload on talent if they are going to compete in the Big Ten. More elite programs are joining and Franklin always seems to be just below the conference’s elite. This might be the last chance for this coaching staff to prove they can build a top program.
2024 will bring a lot of pressure on Franklin and his staff. Getting players like Kimber will be helpful but they have to translate the talent into wins.
