The Alabama Crimson Tide and Michigan Wolverines are getting ready to square off in the Rose Bowl. ESPN hosted their College GameDay show at the venue hours before kickoff. The show had most of its usual anchors consisting of Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Pat McAfee, Desmond Howard, and Joey Galloway.
Rece Davis was trying to give the television more insight about Alabama Crimson Tide QB Jalen Milroe. Davis focused on Milroe’s “LANK” shirt that he wears. However, this led to a hilarious reaction from Pat McAfee when Davis dived into it.
Alabama Crimson Tide QB Jaylen Milroe’s “LANK” Shirt
Let’s go back to the beginning. To start the segment, Rece Davis discussed how Milroe liked to wear his own branded apparel to games. One of the shirts that Milroe wears has the acronym “LANK” in team colors across it.
This is when things got interesting. Davis claimed that the acronym stood for “Let a Naysayer Know.” Once Davis said this, McAfee could not contain himself.
Pat McAfee Has a Hilarious Response
Pat McAfee interrupted Davis in the middle of his monologue. Doing so, McAfee screamed, “That is not what I thought!” That response started up a roundtable reaction.
Herbstreit reacted to McAfee and said, “A good professional is right in the middle of his read…”
Joey Galloway joined in and said “Rece, you was too smooth with that… I thought it was going down.”
Pat McAfee then finished the segment off with a gem. He ended it by saying “It got real tight up here… as you were… Let a naysayer know… that’s what we thought the whole time. That’s what we all thought.”
Fans React Hysterically
If that was not enough, fans on social media had a field day with this. Some of the top responses include:
“Pat was so close to having a Randy Marsh moment.”
“Naysayer please.”
“Pat definitely says it.”
“That’s how you start the first day of the year.”
“Rece was a total pro during this.”
“Pat is a national treasure.”
Jayden Milroe Having Something to Prove
Despite the hilarious moment Milroe’s shirt led to, it does feel like Milroe has something to prove in this game. That is because a lot of people question if he and Alabama even deserve to be here. In controversial fashion, they got the final College Football Playoff spot over Florida State and Georgia. Now, Milroe and the Crimson Tide have to go out there and show the country why they earned it.
