The Green Bay Packers finally saw their long-time wide receiver traded. Just over two full seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders and Davante Adams had enough. He was traded to the New York Jets for a third round pick just after week six came to a close.
Now, Green Bay and Las Vegas are being mentioned in a different trade.
Packers-Raiders Named In Massive Move After Davnate Adams Trade (Report)
According to Ken Ingalls, a salary cap expert for Green Bay:
The Packers currently DO NOT have enough 2024 cap space to take on Maxx Crosby’s contract in a trade. It would require $16.84M and the Packers have $13.63M.
They could easily create more room before or trade away salaries in the deal to make it work, but for now it’s a no.
A lackluster start to the season and rumors of a Davante Adams trade (which turned into an actual trade) led some to believe Maxx Crosby was also available. The Raiders are currently 2-4 through six weeks of the NFL season.
However, the Raiders are claiming Crosby isn’t on the trade block. Adam Schefter of the Pat Mcafee Show reiterated that Crosby is the franchise’s face and one of the few homegrown established players:
“You’ve heard Maxx talk about his commitment to Las Vegas last week when he was comparing and contrasting his situation to Davante Adams,” said Schefter.
“I believe that earlier in the year there might have been a team that asked the Raiders about Maxx Crosby. Might’ve floated a one and I think they said, ‘Yeah, you start with multiple ones on that guy and even then we wouldn’t even entertain it.'”
However, we heard the same thing about Davante Adams for years. If they’re willing to part with Adams, they might eventually consider Crosby as well.
