The Green Bay Packers are having a heck of a time finding a permanent replacement for Mason Crosby. In last year’s playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Anders Carlson missed a 41-yard field goal attempt that would have given the Green Bay Packers a seven-point lead late in the game. That was the final straw in his tumultuous rookie season and he won’t get the chance to avenge that kick.
The team cut Carlson on Tuesday as they trimmed their roster to 53 players. That left Greg Joseph as the only kicker on the roster, however, that is no longer the case.
The Green Bay Packers Add New Kicker To Their Team
According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, the Packers have claimed kicker Brayden Narveson from the Tennessee Titans.
Narveson attended Iowa State in 2018 and 2019, Western Kentucky in 2020 to 2022, and NC State in 2023. Throughout his six year college career he went a perfect 196-196 on extra point attempts. He also went 2-2 during the 2024 pre-season with Tennessee.
It will be interesting to see if Narveson can challenge Joseph for the starting job in Green Bay. It is very clear they are keeping their options open in hopes of finding their next franchise kicker.
