Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers came into their Week 13 matchup against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs as major underdogs. For much of the Packers’ roster, it was their first chance to perform on a major primetime level in the NFL. When everything was said and done, Green Bay came through with yet another major upset win and knocked off the reigning champions by a final score of 27-19.
Over the last few weeks, the Packers have been finding themselves. They have won three straight games and are beginning to look like a legitimate playoff team.
A lot of that has had to do with the major turnaround from first-year starting quarterback Jordan Love. He has begun showing the signs of superstardom that Green Bay has been hoping to see from him. At this point in time, it appears that the Packers may have found their heir to Aaron Rodgers.
So far this season in 12 games, Love has completed 61.3 percent of his pass attempts for 2,866 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He has also picked up 231 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
All of that being said, let’s take a look at three things we learned about the Packers’ 25-year-old quarterback in their Week 13 win over the Chiefs.
What Did We Learn About Packers Quarterback Jordan Love In Week 13?
3. He Has Certainly Learned A Lot From Aaron Rodgers
Throughout the course of the game, Love made play after play that made fans remember Rodgers. Whether it be a massive 4th-and-1 throw down the field off his back foot to Romeo Doubs, or simply throwing from all angles, he looked a bit like the Packers’ longtime superstar.
Granted, he has pieces of his game that are 100 percent of his own. But, it’s very clear that he learned behind Rodgers for a few years and he has added some of those elements to his game.
2. Jordan Love Does Not Fold Under Pressure
Many young quarterbacks would have folded under the pressure of facing Patrick Mahomes on Sunday Night Football. Love actually appeared to elevate his game under that pressure.
Just a couple of years ago, Love made his first career NFL start against the Chiefs. He lost that game, but he was very vocal about having this specific game circled all year long. Love proved that he can come up big for the Packers in even the biggest of situations in the hardest moments.
1. The Packers Have Their Franchise Quarterback
Finally, and most importantly, this was the statement game that Love had to make. The Packers have been waiting to see signs of whether or not Love had the “it” factor. After beating the Chiefs in primetime, it’s clear that they should go all-in on building around Love for the future.
Love has finally started showing fans that he is more than capable of taking over the reigns from Rodgers. He still has so much room to grow and improve, but the talent is there and it’s being shown in game action. This week could not have gone any better for Love or the Packers and it has set out a path for the future.
