The Oregon Ducks had a great 2023 season but couldn’t get past one team, the Washington Huskies. While they still have a prominent bowl game to play, the team was hoping to be in the College Football Playoff. Now, they are dealing with what every program is battling, the transfer portal. Talented safety Trikweze Bridges has reportedly entered the transfer portal.

Oregon Ducks Trikweze Bridges Enters Transfer Portal
Bridges has been with the Ducks program for four years. His best season was in 2022 when he recorded 30 tackles, three interceptions, one forced fumble, and five passes deflected. 2023 was a little bit of a down year despite playing in all 13 games. He didn’t record an interception and only had 16 tackles. He will now try to find a new program to finish out his eligibility. A good safety on the backend is vital to any passing defense so Bridges shouldn’t have any trouble getting offers.
Unprecedented Player Movement
The last two days have been a whirlwind. While some of the players entering the transfer portal make sense, these are ones that make you wonder what was going on with the player and the program. Oregon is a premier program even though they didn’t reach the summit this year. For Bridges to leave, he must think he can either get more playing time or a better NIL deal elsewhere. We are in uncharted territory for college football. Will all this player movement be good for players and programs? It remains to be seen.
The Oregon Ducks are preparing to move to the Big Ten in 2024. A whole new set of opponents awaits. They will need to replenish talent if they are going to beat the likes of Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State.
