The only college teams with more representation than the Oklahoma football program will be the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama leads the way with seven former players heading to Orlando.
Oklahoma Football: 2024 Pro-Bowlers
The five former Oklahoma Sooners to earn a spot at the 2024 Pro Bowl are Kansas City Chiefs center Creed Humphrey, Philadephia Eagles star tackle Lane Johnson, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, Denver Broncos rookie Marvin Mims Jr., and All-Pro offensive lineman Trent Williams. Humphrey has morphed into one of the best centers in football, earning his second straight Pro Bowl nod. Meanwhile, Lane Johnson will head to his fifth Pro Bowl and second in as many years.
Cowboys star CeeDee Lamb enters Week 18 with a league-high 122 receptions. Lamb has 1,651 receiving yards and ten touchdowns, both career-highs. Mims, the 63rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, will head to the Pro Bowl as a special teamer. Mims returned a 99-yard kickoff for a touchdown during his team’s 70-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins in late September. Finally, Williams will go to his 11th straight Pro Bowl.
Former Oklahoma Sooners QB Baker Mayfield: Headlines Biggest Snubs for 2024 Pro Bowl
Baker Mayfield did not make the initial Pro Bowl roster despite a resurgent season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mayfield has starred during his first year with the NFC North club, throwing for 3,907 yards, 28 touchdowns, and ten picks in 16 games. With a win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Mayfield and the Bucs will clinch the division and head to the playoffs a year after the retirement of future Hall of Famer Tom Brady. Mayfield won the Heisman Trophy with the Sooners in 2017.
Meanwhile, injuries likely kept Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews and Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray out of the Pro Bowl. Andrews, a three-time Pro-Bowler, had 45 receptions, 544 yards, and six touchdowns through ten games before sustaining a season-ending ankle injury. Conversely, Murray missed the beginning of the season while rehabbing from a torn ACL suffered the year prior. Murray, like Mayfield, won the Heisman with the Sooners.
