In recent years, Ohio State’s cornerback unit has seen young players come in and contribute immediately. Under The Buckeyes’ new defensive regime, including defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and secondary coach Tim Walton, the cornerback unit is arguably the best in the nation. Ohio State’s staff has been active recently in trying to add to this unit by offering scholarships to three highly-rated cornerbacks.

Ohio State Offers 2025 Cornerback Brandon Finney

On May 20, top 300-ranked cornerback Brandon Finney announced that he received an offer from Ohio State via his Twitter account. 2025 prospect Blake Woodby decomitted from Ohio State which opened up a scholarship for the Buckeyes, which appears to be the one they offered to Finney.
Brandon Finney is an all-around athlete who is a two-way starter at the varsity level, also lining up at wide receiver where he has multiple offers to play at the Division One level. Finney is also on the track team and ran a 10.85-second 100-meter dash.
Measuring in at 6’2 185 pounds, Finney is a big athlete who would bring range and high point ability to the Buckeye secondary.
Ohio State Offers 2026 Cornerback Samari Matthews

The next prospect Ohio State offered is 2026 4-star cornerback Samari Matthews out of Cornelius, North Carolina. Matthews is the sixth cornerback the Buckeyes have offered in the 2026 class, and Ohio State has not received a commitment out of a cornerback in that class yet.
Samari Matthews is the 145th-ranked player nationally and the 13th-ranked cornerback.
Measuring in at 6’0 180 pounds, Matthews is another tall athlete with the ability to locate and high-point the football at an exceptional level. Matthews also displayed an ability to attack the line of scrimmage and make tackles on the outside.
Ohio State Offers 2027 Cornerback Corey Hadley Jr

The latest corner to receive an offer from the Buckeyes recently is Corey Hadley Jr out of Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, Georgia.
Hadley Jr is another big athlete who is a two-way starter. Measuring in at 6’1 180 pounds as a freshman. Hadley Jr has exceptional size and athleticism that will translate to the Division One level. Some teams have recruited Hadley Jr as a wide receiver which is why his recruiting profile lists him as an athlete, but it appears the Buckeyes want him to play cornerback.
