Ohio State has landed a lot of top-tier players in the transfer portal. In this day and age of college football, that usually means the NIL money is flowing. Universities have used collectives in order to help pay their players. Donors can give to the collective, and all players get a share. The Buckeyes are getting help from one of their alumni. Former quarterback CJ Stroud has donated a massive amount of money to the NIL collective.

It is reportedly between $50,000 and $100,000 to the NIL collective, “THE Foundation.” For many people, a massive donation is for the perks. Stroud is doing this for the athletes. He already gets many of the perks because of his status as a former player. He wants to see the next generation of Buckeyes get money from this collective. He is one of the first players to “pay it forward” and help boost his university.
What Do You Get By Donating?

According to THE Foundation’s website, here is what you get for the Platinum level, which is a $10,000 donation.
- Meet and greet with Ohio State Student Athlete or former Ohio State Student Athlete
- Table at our next event with coaches and student athletes
- Two (2) pre-game field passes for an Ohio State football game
- Private Tour of Woody Hayes Facility
- Access to creative interviews and video segments
– We will coordinate a video and photo shoot between an Ohio State athlete and your company. - Recognition at events via announcements & promotions
- Signed autograph football by Cardale Jones or J.T. Barrett
- Photo with Coach Day at The Foundation’s next event
There is one level higher for donors who give $100,000 or more, which comes with even more perks. The Buckeyes aren’t the only school to offer something like this. It is a way to engage fans and help players.
Ohio State is going to need NIL money to pay all of the players they are bringing in. It will be interesting to see if Stroud is the first of many NFL players to do this or if he will be one of the only.
