The Ohio State Buckeyes won the National Title on Monday night against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish by a final score of 34-23. With the Buckeyes winning it all, it was their first title won since the 2014 season against the Oregon Ducks with Urban Meyer as head coach.
Ryan Day was doubted as head coach before the loss against the Michigan Wolverines. The Ohio State Buckeyes were doubted after the loss, but they used that loss to make them stronger and win it all this season.
Ohio State Buckeyes Ranked 2nd On Yahoo Sports Way Too Early Top 25 Rankings
It is never too early to talk about the 2025 college football season. The Ohio State Buckeyes will be one of the favorites to win it all next season. Yahoo Sports writer Nick Bromberg created the poll and has Ohio State ranked number two in the way too early Top 25 for next season. Bromberg said:
“The Buckeyes will lose a lot of players to the NFL Draft in the coming days, but Caleb Downs will be back to anchor the defense and Jeremiah Smith will continue to be a star on offense as they try to defend their title next season. Devin Brown has been Will Howard’s backup in 2024 but he’s transferring and former five-star recruit Julian Sayin is waiting in the wings. The Buckeyes also got a transfer portal commitment from West Virginia RB CJ Donaldson and should be active in the spring transfer portal period.”
What’s scary is that Jeremiah Smith will only be a sophomore next season. He could have been a Top 5 pick in the NFL Draft this year if he was eligible. Smith will be around for at least two more seasons in college football. This past season, he caught 76 passes for 1,315 yards receiving, and 15 touchdowns, along with averaging 17.3 yards per reception.
Quarterback Next Season
Julian Sayin is in line to be the starting quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes despite incoming freshman Tavien St. Clair being one of the top recruits in the class of 2025 at the quarterback position. It will be a good battle in camp between those two, with Sayin expected to win the job for next season.
Despite Ohio State losing a lot of talent to the NFL, they are just going to reload for next season. The Buckeyes have a chance to go back-to-back, but it won’t be easy for them to do so.
