The Ohio State Buckeyes have been a factory for top-tier wide receivers. They have produced some of the best pass-catchers in the NFL over the past five years. The tradition looks to continue with number one overall recruit Jeremiah Smith. He has impressed early but continued to live up to the hype with a mind-boggling one-handed catch in spring practice.

Here is the video courtesy the Ohio State football social media team. Smith has a cornerback draped all over him but makes the one-handed grab in the corner of the end zone. Onlookers were wildly impressed. Too often, we see top recruits not live up to the hype. They get into the wrong situation or their game doesn’t translate well from high school to college. While Emeka Egbuka is returning to the team in 2024, Smith could easily be a top target.
Big Expectations
It is the biggest season for the Ohio State Buckeyes in awhile. They have lost three straight games to Michigan after dominating the series for the past two decades. Because of this, they have missed out on the Big Ten Championship and in some cases, the College Football Playoff. With the offseason the program had, there is no reason they should struggle. If they fall short again, Ryan Day could find himself on the hot seat.
The Big Ten will look different in 2024. New teams are joining but the expectation from the fanbase is the same. Hopefully, Jeremiah Smith will continue to turn heads on Saturdays.
