Dorian Williams Brings Size to The Ohio State Receiver Room

On June 3, Dorian Williams was added to the Ohio State roster as a walk-on wide receiver. Williams measures in at 6’2 200 pounds, bringing in a big target to the Buckeye receiver room.
On film, Williams displays an elite ability to maneuver his body to shield himself from the defender expanding his catch radius. Williams took most of his snaps on the outside where he also showed the athleticism required to win one-on-ones and make contested catches along the sideline.
One area that could be worked on is route running. Dorian Williams does not show a very in-depth route tree on film, however, he is effective in the routes he does run.
Ohio State Has Had Recent Success With Walk-On Wide Receivers

We have recently seen Ohio State walk-on wide receivers make a name for themselves despite having to compete with the best talent in the world. The best example of this is with former Buckeye wide receiver Xavier Johnson.
In his career, Xavier Johnson has 682 scrimmage yards and 3 total touchdowns for the Buckeyes and lined up at running back, wide receiver, kick returner, and punt returner.
Johnson burst onto the scene with his late-game heroics against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in week one of 2022. He hauled in a 24-yard go-ahead touchdown late in the third quarter that propelled the Buckeyes to victory.
Xavier Johnson’s biggest honor as a Buckeye was when he was elected as the “Block O” recipient in his senior season. The “Block O” recipient is awarded to someone who exemplifies toughness, accountability, and high character. This player is the only player to wear the number 0.
