The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will have a fresh face under center as a starter in the 2025 college football season following the decision of quarterback Steve Angeli to leave South Bend by entering the transfer portal. That much was already revealed in a report by The Athletic last Thursday.
On Sunday, Angeli left zero doubt about that news when he shared a farewell letter to Notre Dame football.
Dear Notre Dame, Thank you for an amazing 3 years in South Bend wearing the blue and gold. It has truly been an incredible journey as student-athlete at Notre Dame and I am eternally grateful for the memories made along the way,” Angeli wrote in a post he shared through X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
After thanking his family, Angeli expressed his gratitude to his teammates and to the Notre Dame coaches and staff for “giving me an opportunity to play college football and helping me better myself on and off the field.”
He closed his letter with the following message: With that being said, after earning my degree at the end of the semester, I am going to explore the transfer portal and evaluate my options as a graduate transfer.
