Last year, it was revealed that Bill Belichick, the 73-year-old head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels, was dating 24-year-old Jordon Hudson. And while there were some raised eyebrows at their age gap relationship, no one could have imagined the professional and public relations nightmare that it would become.
Since being hired by the Tar Heels, Belichick has been in the headlines far more often due to Hudson’s behavior than for what he is doing to build up the football program.
Over the course of the past several weeks, multiple instances of controlling and unprofessional behavior on the part of Hudson have put the university, and Belichick, in a bad light.
Jordon Hudson Appeared to Be too Influential Over Bill Belichick

A few weeks ago, the Tar Heels held their spring practices; but instead of the media focus being on Belichick’s first foray into college football, it was on Hudson, who was inexplicably present on the sideline.
After this, it was revealed that Belichick had instructed university officials that all emails sent to him must also be forwarded to Hudson, who is not a North Carolina employee. Her official title, according to her email signature, is that of the Head of Belichick Media.
As if this were not concerning enough, Hudson’s interference with an interview the six-time Super Bowl winning head coach did on CBS had everyone openly questioning the relationship and if she had too much influence on the head coach.
During the interview, the former New England Patriots head coach was asked how/when he and Hudson met. “We’re not going to talk about that,” Hudson said from off camera. Apparently, it was just one of many times that she made the proceedings difficult, but was the only one that CBS left in their final cut.
After the interview aired, it was revealed that HBO had cancelled their collaboration with the Tar Heels to film a college version of “Hard Knocks” over Hudson’s insistence that she be heavily involved in the production. Additionally, CBS cancelled Belichick’s second interview.
And now, the university is stepping in.
North Carolina Has Banned Jordon Hudson from the Football Facility

During the most recent episode of “Pablo Torre Finds Out,” the show’s title host revealed that the Tar Heels have drawn a line in the sand with their legendary head coach. His young girlfriend is no long welcome around their football program.
“Two sources at the University of North Carolina tell me that there has been a decision that was made last week by the higher-ups inside the athletic department that had hired Bill Belichick to be the highest paid public employee — not just coach in the state of North Carolina at $10 million a year — and that decision was that Jordon Hudson, she is no longer allowed in the football building,” Torre said (via Awful Announcing). “She is not allowed on the football field.” Quote: ‘Don’t think you’ll be hearing much from Jordon moving forward.’”
This is certainly the right decision for the optics of the Tar Heel football program, and can only be beneficial to the players, who do not need the distraction of Hudson’s presence and media frenzy that comes with it while they prepare for the season.
This is also the right decision for Belichick, who has worked hard for decades to build his legacy. Hopefully it will recover from the blows it has taken over the last several weeks.
Update: North Carolina has refuted the report that they have banned Hudson from their football facilities
