When the New England Patriots decided that the time had come to part ways with Bill Belichick after over two decades and six Super Bowl Championships, many believed that he would soon be scooped up by another NFL team to lead their franchise forward.
As it turned out, though, he was not. It turned out that NFL teams had no interest in turning over their franchise or young rosters to a coach/general manager that, at over 70 years old, would probably not be around for the long run.
After taking a year off to work in media, Belichick accepted the head coaching job at North Carolina, his first foray into college football. But while this should have been an exciting new chapter for the legendary coach, it has turned into one of the biggest embarrassments of his career, and he hasn’t even coached a game yet.
Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson Have Given North Carolina Publicity, but Not It Hasn’t Been Good

Unfortunately for the Tar Heels, hiring Belichick also seems to have meant that they were also attaching themselves to Jordon Hudson, his 24-year-old girlfriend. While their age gap relationship has been public knowledge since his latter days in New England, it was typically not talked about much except for several jokes made at their expense during the Roast of Tom Brady on Netflix.
But since Belichick arrived at Chapel Hill, Hudson has been just as big a part of the news surrounding the program as he has, and perhaps even more so. This is, of course, his own doing, having instructed university officials that any email correspondence sent to him must also be sent to Hudson.
His girlfriend does not work for North Carolina.
Recently, Hudson and Belichick made unfortunate headlines after the former was heard interfering in a CBS interview the coach was filming to publicize his new book. What is more, her behavior during the interview was so disturbing to producers that they cancelled the scheduled second interview.
As it happens, that second interview was not the only television appearance Hudson cost Belichick.
Bill Belichick’s Girlfriend Is the Reason HBO Cancelled Hard Knocks with North Carolina

According to a recent report in The Athletic, it was Hudson inserting herself as the head of “Belichick Media” that caused HBO to cancel Hard Knocks featuring the Tar Heels this upcoming spring.
“Jordon Hudson, Belichick’s girlfriend, played an instrumental role in stopping the production, related to her request to be heavily involved in the project, according to multiple industry sources briefed on the negotiations. The sources spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
“In a December 2024 email to North Carolina officials, Hudson, 24, identified herself as the chief operating officer of Belichick Productions. (The Athletic has been unable to identify any company registered under that name either in Massachusetts, where Hudson’s other business entities are listed, or any other state.)
“Instead, on March 3, Jessica Boddy — the NFL’s vice president for commercial operations and business affairs — sent an email to North Carolina’s counsel confirming that showmakers ‘will not proceed with the production of the Belichick project.’”
At this point, it appears that Hudson is costing both Belichick and the university money and positive publicity. One has to wonder how much longer the couple will be tolerated on campus.
