Nick Saban is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, college football coaches of all time. His seven national championships and decades of SEC dominance are unmatched. While he will be remembered by most for his time in Tuscaloosa, he had success early in his career as well. His coaching career began at the MAC conference with Kent State, and his first head coaching job was at Toledo. The conference is recognizing his accomplishments. Nick Saban will be inducted into the MAC Hall of Fame in 2024.

The induction ceremony will be at the end of May. Saban played defensive back at Kent State from 1970-1972 before becoming a coach from 1973-1976. He bounced around coaching positions, but his first head coaching job was at Toledo in 1990. He only spent one season there but took the team to a 9-2 record and a conference title. The combination of coaching and playing is why the conference decided to include him in this year’s class.
Probably Not The Last Hall Of Fame Induction
If there is a Hall of Fame and Saban is connected, he will probably be inducted. His resume is unmatched, and it will be very difficult for another coach to achieve this level of success. With the rise of NIL, the college football landscape has changed. College football is no longer top-heavy. One could make an argument for 10-12 teams to win a national championship. Programs also have the ability to go all in, thanks to the transfer portal, so we may see teams have one year of greatness here and there.
Nick Saban is one of the greatest coaches of all time, and it is great to see him enshrined in the MAC Hall of Fame.
