The Cleveland Browns just suffered a massive blow to their campaign on Monday night after star running back Nick Chubb had to be carted off the field with a devastating knee injury. Cleveland’s worst nightmare was realized after it was later revealed that the four-time Pro Bowler has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
Nick Chubb Out for the Season After Nasty Knee Injury
Chubb went down in the second quarter of Monday’s contest after he was tackled by Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. Replays show that Chubb’s knee took the full force of Fitzpatrick’s tackle, and you just knew right then and there that it was a bad one.

That’s nasty. After seeing this angle of the hit, it comes as no surprise that it took very little time before it was confirmed that Chubb’s season was done.
Minkah Fitzpatrick Slammed on NFL Twitter for ‘Dirty’ Hit
That’s not the only takeaway from the above clip, though. The mean streets of Twitter started bringing out the pitchforks against Fitzpatrick, who a lot of fans feel is to blame for Chubb’s catastrophic injury. The keyboard warriors did not hold back:
Minkah Fitzpatrick is a dirty player.
That’s a dirty hit.
Idc how you cut it.

Minkah Fitzpatrick should be ashamed of himself. Absolutely disgusting. Dove right at Nick Chubbs knee as a secondary tackler. pic.twitter.com/9oK75Jgmjj

Whether you want to say it’s dirty or just football is up to you, but Minkah Fitzpatrick undoubtedly dives at Nick Chubb’s knee here.
Fitzpatrick’s decision (and the injury itself) look even worse from the other angle ESPN isn’t showing.

Terrible hit by Minkah Fitzpatrick, this angle show how dirty this hit was. Straight for his Nick Chubbs knees/lower leg. Dirty AF

Minkah Fitzpatrick needs a lengthy suspension.
He might have just ended Chubbs career (it was possibly that bad), and that hit was completely unnecessary.
That was scummy

Just saw the replay. I don't ever call for this, but suspend Minkah Fitzpatrick. That was a knee-seeking dirty ass hit

Some fans have even gone as far as calling for a lengthy suspension for the Steelers safety, who they believe delivered an intentionally dirty hit that could be a career-threatening injury for Chubb. You also have to note that this is the same knee that the Browns RB injured in 2015 when he tore his PCL, MCL, and LCL, while also sustaining cartilage damage.
For what it’s worth, Fitzpatrick was also injured in this one. He sustained some sort of chest injury in the game and was later ruled out from returning. He finished the game with a team-high six tackles. It remains to be seen if this injury will have any impact on the three-time All-Pro safety’s status for the Steelers’ Week 3 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
As for Monday’s contest, Pittsburgh prevailed, 26-22.
