Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson is expected to part ways with the team this offseason after being benched for the last two games of the 2023 regular season. The team struggled at the beginning of the season, getting one win in their first six games, but were able to mount a winning streak towards the end of the year. However, it was too late for the Broncos, and they were eliminated from playoff contention once again, causing the veteran quarterback to be benched. Now, Wilson has been linked to a surprising team, as he will likely be playing elsewhere in 2024.
Russell Wilson Joins AFC West Rival
One ESPN analyst has the veteran quarterback landing with the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason, where he would face the Broncos twice if he were to sign with them. Here is what the NFL executive said about Wilson possibly joining Las Vegas:
[The Raiders] need a vet, and they are one of Wilson’s original teams he wanted to go to. he’d stay in the [AFC West], West Coast, and [Wilson’s Wife] Ciara can do a [Las Vegas] residency [as a live performer].

Why Las Vegas Makes Sense For Wilson
Wilson has been one of the most popular NFL star over his entire career, making him an intriguing option for almost any quarterback-needy team. He would be a good option for the Raiders since he already has interest in playing in Las Vegas, and he would have great weapons to choose from like star receiver Davante Adams. With Antonio Pierce as the permanent head coach, the team is looking to become playoff contenders immediately, and Wilson can be the veteran under center the team needs.
For now, Las Vegas has their young quarterback Aidan O’Connell as the starter, who will be going into his second season in the league. While he had a promising finish to the 2023 regular season, he was inconsistent, which is typical for a rookie quarterback. Bringing in Wilson as the starter and having O’Connell as the backup could be a great option to give the young quarterback some veteran knowledge, and eventually become the starter once Wilson’s career comes to an end.
Will The Raiders Sign The Veteran Quarterback?
While nothing is currently being discussed between the two teams, this option for the Raiders seems too good to pass up on. As for Wilson, his years in the NFL are coming to an end, so joining a team with great weapons at his disposal could be the best option for him. Do you think Las Vegas will sign the veteran quarterback, or will Wilson end up with another franchise in 2024?
