Brandon Staley Fired
The NFL spares nobody, and it was evident when the Chargers fired coach Brandon Staley after the embarrassing loss to the Raiders 63-21 on Thursday. If you ask almost the entire NFL landscape or Chargers fans, they would probably say that Staley should have been fired last year after they choked a 21 point lead to the Jaguars in a playoff game. In his tenure with the Chargers, Staley went 24-24 in 3 seasons and went to the playoffs once. Now that Staley is gone, I will be giving you my 2 replacements that make the most sense for the Chargers to make.
The first coach I think that should replace Staley is Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. In my opinion, Bieniemy is the most deserving to be a head coach out of all possible candidates. He is currently one of the best play callers in the NFL. Yes, he did have a Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill at one point, but the way he orchestrated that offense with all of the weapons they had he can translate that to the dynamic offense that the Chargers could have. You give him Justin Herbert, Austin Ekeler and Keenan Allen and we could finally see Justin Herbert into the quarterback that the NFL wants to see. Even with Rivera most likely out of Washington, I don’t think we see Bieniemy even try to take that position. Washington does a very young and talented quarterback in Sam Howell, but the opportunity to be able to coach a proven quarterback with the opportunity to grow even more, I think it is a no-brainer for LA to make this move.
The next coach that could replace Staley is soon to be former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. We never thought we’d see the day that New England would part ways with Belichick, but after 24 years with the Patriots, his time is coming to a close. I personally think that this could be a genius move for LA. They have a struggling defense, and we all know how great of a defensive coach Belichick is. And, you give Herbert a coach that has seen quite literally any defense that can be thrown at you. They still have Kellen Moore at offensive coordinator who will no doubt still be a great coach for Herbert on the offensive side of the ball. But, if you are looking at this from a defensive perspective, Belichick would be a slam dunk.
We still have a ton of time left before the offseason and what will happen with the coaching vacancies. We don’t know if Bieniemy will end up taking the Washington job to keep developing Sam Howell. We don’t know if Belichick will just hang it up and wait on his Hall of Fame induction. That all remains to be seen.

I’m not sure where you get your information, but neither of those scenarios (Bieniemy or Belicheat) seem to be realistic.
