Week 16 of the NFL season is underway. With three games for the week already under our belt, bettors may be looking to make up for potential early losses. Or they could be looking for a little extra money right before Christmas.
So, which teams do bettors love this week? Are they all favorites? These are the three NFL teams with the most money on them in Week 16.
1. Detroit Lions (-3)
The Detroit Lions have the most money bet on them in Week 16. Today, they are going on the road to take on the Minnesota Vikings, who are 7-7. So, why do bettors love them?
For starters, the Lions have a chance to clinch the NFC North win a win in this game. If they are able to take care of business in this game, Detroit will also clinch their first home playoff game since the 1993 season. It is safe to say that Lions fans have been waiting a long time to watch their team in person for a playoff game.
Then, there is the offensive advantage. The Lions are fifth in points per game and third in total yards per game. As for the Vikings, they rank just 21st in points per game and 11th in total yards per game. Detroit will look to take advantage of this offensive gap today.
2. Miami Dolphins (-1.5)
In perhaps the game of the week, the Miami Dolphins host the Dallas Cowboys. Both teams have 10-4 records and look to strengthen their current playoff positions. For Miami, this is even more crucial.
Why is this? Because the Buffalo Bills are coming for them. The Bills have won three straight games, including last night against the Los Angeles Chargers. If the Dolphins fail to win their next two games, they could be battling the Bills head-to-head for the AFC East title in Week 18.
3. Indianapolis Colts (+3)
Finally, we have the Indianapolis Colts. This line has had significant movement throughout the week. They went from two-point favorites to three-point underdogs.
Injuries are a big reason why the line has shifted the way it has. For starters, RB Jonathan Taylor has missed the last three games due to a thumb injury. Then, WR Michael Pittman Jr. suffered an unfortunate concussion relapse over the weekend. As a result, he will not be available for today’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Despite this, many bettors seem to believe that the Colts will find a way to secure this victory. It is a crucial game for them considering they currently hold the final AFC wild card spot with an 8-6 record.
